Modern Slavery Statement
Cleaners Kensington Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps Cleaners Kensington has taken, and continues to take, to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. We recognise that the cleaning and facilities sector can be exposed to labour exploitation risks, and we are committed to conducting our business ethically, transparently, and with respect for human rights.
Our Zero-Tolerance Policy
Cleaners Kensington has a zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, forced labour, servitude, debt bondage, child labour, and human trafficking. This policy applies to all employees, contractors, agency workers, and suppliers engaged by or on behalf of our business. We do not tolerate any behaviour, practice, or condition that could be interpreted as exploitation or abuse of individuals working within our organisation or supply chain.
All managers are responsible for promoting a culture in which unethical practices are challenged and reported. Any confirmed breach of this policy may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment or contract, and may be reported to relevant authorities where appropriate.
Our Business and Supply Chain
Cleaners Kensington provides professional cleaning services to residential and commercial clients. Our workforce includes directly engaged staff and, in some cases, agency personnel. Our supply chain covers cleaning products, equipment, consumables, uniforms, and services such as recruitment and maintenance.
We seek to work only with reputable suppliers who share our commitment to ethical employment practices, fair pay, and safe working conditions. We expect the same high standards to be cascaded through each tier of their own supply chains.
Supplier Standards and Audits
Suppliers must confirm that they comply with all applicable labour, employment, and human rights laws and that they do not engage in or tolerate modern slavery practices. Our standard terms require suppliers to:
Act ethically and with integrity in all business dealings; implement effective systems to ensure that modern slavery and human trafficking are not taking place in their operations; and cooperate with Cleaners Kensington on reasonable due diligence requests and audits.
We conduct proportionate risk-based due diligence on new and existing suppliers. This may include requesting information about recruitment practices and worker documentation, assessing payment and working time arrangements, and reviewing policies relating to modern slavery and human rights. Where we identify concerns, we will engage with the supplier to seek improvements. If a supplier is unable or unwilling to address serious issues, we reserve the right to suspend or terminate the relationship.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Cleaners Kensington encourages all employees, workers, and suppliers to report any concerns related to modern slavery or unethical labour practices. Concerns may include suspected exploitation, unusual recruitment fees, retention of passports or identity documents, intimidation, or restrictions on freedom of movement.
Reports can be made to line managers or senior management. Individuals are also encouraged to raise concerns through any internal whistleblowing channels made available to them. We will treat all concerns seriously and, where appropriate, investigate promptly and confidentially. We will not tolerate any form of retaliation against anyone who raises a concern in good faith.
Training and Awareness
We aim to raise awareness of modern slavery risks among relevant staff, particularly those involved in recruitment, procurement, and supplier management. Training and guidance focus on recognising potential indicators of exploitation, the importance of due diligence, and how to escalate concerns.
Our objective is to ensure that those with responsibility for hiring staff or selecting suppliers understand their obligations and the standards expected by Cleaners Kensington.
Monitoring, Governance, and Annual Review
Responsibility for overseeing our approach to modern slavery rests with senior management. We regularly review our policies, supplier controls, and reporting mechanisms to ensure they remain effective and proportionate to our risk profile.
This Modern Slavery Statement will be reviewed at least once every twelve months. As part of this annual review, we will evaluate any incidents or concerns raised, the outcomes of supplier checks, and feedback from staff and stakeholders. Where necessary, we will strengthen our procedures, update relevant documentation, and improve training to enhance our prevention and detection efforts.
By maintaining a robust zero-tolerance stance, carrying out supplier audits, promoting clear reporting channels, and committing to ongoing annual review, Cleaners Kensington seeks to play its part in eliminating modern slavery and human trafficking from our business and supply chains.
